Antitrust

In Costa Rica, free competition is promoted and protected by Law No. 7472, "Law of Promotion of Free Competition and Effective Defense of Consumers". This law enables filing suits against monopolistic practices that hinder or restrict free competition.
Any complaints must obligatorily be submitted to the Commission to Promote Free Competition. If no settlement is achieved this way, the parties can then go to trial.
